Dance Department

Dance is a one semester course that gives students the opportunity to experience the excitement of Dance by exploring and investigating a number of different genres. These may include jazz, Charleston, folk dance and Bollywood. The course is designed for students who enjoy dancing and may not necessarily have any prior experience in Dance.

Students will develop technical dance skills, strength and creativity through a combination of practical and written work. They will develop their knowledge and understanding of the dance elements and how these can be applied and analyzed. They will also have the opportunity to develop their choreographic skills through a range of tasks for duos and small groups. An integral part of the Dance course is developing students’ knowledge of dance through research, exploration and performance. They will demonstrate their understanding through written analysis and evaluation.
