Director’s Welcome Message AIS-West.
I am pleased to welcome you to the American International School in Egypt - West Campus. It is an honor for me to serve as the School Director. For the past 6 years I was the Director of the American School Hong Kong, which is also operated by Esol Education.
Prior to that, I served in 6 different schools as Head of School or Principal and, from those experiences, acquired a deep understanding of what good schools look like.
The research is clear about the characteristics of successful schools. One of the key aspects is that curriculum, instruction and assessment are all aligned with standards and that a pattern of frequent monitoring of teaching and learning has been established. We also know that successful schools have developed a clear and shared focus and have high standards and expectations.
I am excited with the opportunity that presents itself at AIS-West. I look forward to working in a collaborative mode with our faculty to enhance the mission and vision
of the school. Our goal is to deliver an exemplary program that is characterized by its rigor, holistic approach and inspirational nature. We are committed to building a learning community where care and respect for one another is of paramount importance.
Personally, I consider myself fortunate to have worked in the educational sector for 35+ years. I view my occupation more in the realm of vocation than profession.
Working with the many fine children who come through the doors of a school on a daily basis is a privilege and with it comes great responsibility and joy. I am eager to embrace this new challenge at AIS-West.
