Outreach and Service Learning

“All other pleasures and possessions pale into nothingness before service which is rendered in a spirit of joy.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
At AIS - West, we believe in fostering compassion and kindness to each other, the world and all its inhabitants. To that end, we seek to inculcate a culture of service right from the early years. Students are provided opportunities to learn about giving through in-class and school-wide initiatives. The focus is not just on material assistance but also on dedicating time and effort to serve a greater cause, learning to appreciate the privileges one has, and finding joy in service.
From Middle School onwards, our Week Without Walls program includes opportunities for service learning trips abroad, where students have the opportunity to visit and learn about underprivileged parts of the world. Led by the Middle School and High School Student Council, students also participate in, and organize collection drives and fund-raising events through dress-down days, bake sales, etc. that support local causes.
High School students who are pursuing the IB Diploma are required to complete a preset number of Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) hours, which many dedicate to wonderful causes both locally and around the world.
