AIS-West IB DIPLOMA ProgramME

Welcome to the International Baccalaureate Programme at AIS-West High School

What are the benefits of taking the IB?

It might be worth keeping all the benefits of the IB in mind as you struggle through it. At least you can take solace in the fact that your work is not going unrewarded! Here are a couple of really cool stats about IB graduates that I’m sure will motivate you along your path.

● It is a pre-university qualification officially recognized in 147 countries around the world

● The university acceptance rate is much higher than any other pre-university qualification. Some universities, e.g. Colorado and Texas universities, give automatic credits IB graduates.

● There is a greater chance of being granted scholarships. Last year, one of our students was granted a 98% fee scholarship at the University of Boston Medical School.

● Students find it a rewarding experience, as it allows them to dig deeper into their subjects of interest and develop research, analytical and critical skills.

● It promotes creativity, teamwork, and empathy

● It encourages students out of their comfort zone, thereby developing strong problem-solving skills.

● It is taught by specifically trained teachers who are required to participate in regular training courses and are part of a well-connected global teacher network.

● It promotes risk-taking: students are trained not to be afraid of approaching uncertainties.

● Students rely less on memory and develop conceptual understanding.

● It instills a strong sense of integrity, honesty, fairness and respect for others.
