PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dina Taher

Dear all,

It is my pleasure to welcome parents, students and teachers to the middle school. I am honored to be part of the AISW family and am looking forward to working with students, parents and teachers to build a positive community that embraces everyone.

While I am new to the west campus, I have served as part of the leadership team at the AIS main campus for too many years to count. I held many roles including that of an IB teacher, IB coordinator, assistant principal in the high school, and middle school principal.

AIS is a big family and I have had the pleasure to see many of my students bring their children to attend school and I have also hired a few of my former students to become teachers in the middle school. Coming to school never feels like work, it is my second home and my extended family.

I believe whole-heartedly in our school mission statement and I strive to help our children to receive the best of a comprehensive and challenging American and international education that fosters informed and engaged local, regional and global citizenship. I also work hard to inspire our students to become lifelong learners, who contribute positively to a diverse and changing world.

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Dr. Dina Bahaa Taher

Middle School Principal

VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Emilio

Dear Families,

My name is Emilio Koudouna and I am extremely excited to introduce myself as the new assistant principal of AIS-West. I am honored to join Dr. Dina Taher and the amazing MS faculty and staff who are known for their dedication to excellence and to our students.

Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a teacher and an administrator who advocates for what’s best for children; that is why I feel it is important to spend time with our students, getting to know their personalities, interests, and what helps them learn best.

In the Middle School, we embrace our Mission and strive to provide a supportive  environment that aims to inspire joy, passion, and compassion. We want to create an open, welcoming atmosphere where confidence is built, risks are taken, and the focus is put on what each child can accomplish. We also believe in community partnerships and we encourage students to be lifelong learners who will contribute positively to our diverse and changing world.

I strongly encourage you to communicate with your child’s teacher and myself if you ever have any questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to schedule an appointment or stop by to discuss ways I could assist in making this year a success for your child.

It’s going to be a great year!

Go Lynx!

Emilio Koudouna

Middle School Vice Principal
