Makerspace
The eighth-grade history department was honored to be able to collaborate with the Makerspace in providing the eighth-grade students with a hands-on project in building working trebuchets.
The students were able to learn not only about the technology employed during medieval times in warfare but also practice the engineering design process as they designed, tested, and redesigned their trebuchets to launch further.
Students used inquiry-based methods to learn how to make their designs work and perform better. The competition, which takes place at the end of January and the beginning of February, determines which trebuchet launches the furthest.
