Libraries: Elementary and Secondary

Our Libraries:

AIS - West has two libraries to serve our students and staff. The 4^th floor library supports the needs of our secondary school population. The 3^rd floor library is designed to support our elementary students. All students and staff are automatically members of our libraries. Parents are also able to set up a library account that allows them to check out materials for their children or themselves.

Our Collection:

Our library collection is constantly developing and expanding as funding becomes available. Materials are selected to support our curriculum for all ages of students from pre-kindergarten to our senior IB students. Through our collection and the presentation of materials, we also hope to encourage a life-long love of reading.

Destiny:

Our library collection can be searched through our online library catalog, Destiny. This catalog may be accessed at : https://aiswest.follettdestiny.com/

Our Destiny home page also has active links to online resources that support a variety of academic and recreational literacy needs for all ages of students such as:

BrainPop offers animated, engaging , curriculum-based activities for elementary and middle school students.
EBSCO Host and JSTOR are authoritative academic databases designed to support the research needs of older students.

Library Hours:

Our libraries are open from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm each school day, except on Thursday when we close at 3:00 pm.

To encourage learners to use information for knowledge, understanding, imagination, and enjoyment.
To provide safe access to resources in various formats in order to expose learners to diverse ideas, experiences, and opinions.
To promote the ethical use of information and intellectual property, and to emphasize the importance and value of academic honesty.
To encourage learners to wonder, to be amazed, to satisfy their appetite for learning about new things, and to feed their own natural story-telling skills.
