School Leaders
Craig Ross
School Director
Dr. Craig Ross has served in leadership positions both in the United States and internationally. Dr. Ross has served as a superintendent and assistant superintendent of school systems in the United States. In addition Dr. Ross has served as an elementary, middle and high school principal. Most recently he served as the director of teaching and learning in Maui Hawaii. Dr. Ross earned his undergraduate and masters degrees from Indiana University and his PhD from Auburn University.
Dina Sonbol
Elementary School Principal
Dr. Dina Sonbol is an experienced educator with over 20 years in the field. After graduating with a medical degree, she transitioned into teaching elementary school for four years, then spent the past 15 years at the American International School in Egypt. During her time at AIS West, she has served as a secondary science teacher, an IB chemistry teacher, Head of Department, IB-DP CAS Coordinator, and High School Vice Principal.
Dr. Sonbol earned her education degree from the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom and has earned a Master degree in Education from the University of Walden in the United States of America.
Dina Taher
Middle School Principal
Dr. Dina B. Taher joined AIS in its first years of operation as a fresh graduate to teach computer science. She then went to the US to get her Ph.D in economics and taught at the college level before returning to AIS. She has served many roles over the years. She has taught IB economics, served as an IB coordinator, an assistant principal in the high school, and a middle school principal. Dr. Dina Taher joined the AIS West Campus in 2022 after being part of the AIS Main Team for over fifteen years. Dr. Taher has also served many roles with the IBO, including those of Deputy Chief Examiner and workshop leader.
Dr. Dina Taher is a firm believer in the positive impact a holistic education can have on children and strives to give students opportunities to understand the common values that unite all human beings.
Adam Mcdonald
High School Principal
Adam McDonald is originally from the heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he completed his undergraduate degree at Hamline University and subsequent graduate degrees at Saint Mary’s University. It is in these institutions that he discovered my passion for education and working with students and teachers. As a social studies teacher and coach, he dedicated himself to empowering students to reach their full potential. Over the past 24 years, he has served in various leadership roles as a teacher and Principal in five different schools, spanning across the United States and extending to Egypt for the past six years.
At American International School, every student is a valued and integral part of our community. It is his goal to ensure that each student feels supported, inspired, and encouraged to explore their potential to the fullest.
